Artist, entrepreneur and emerging homewares designer Shweta Mistry works with ancient natural pigments and dyes to create original fabrics, wallpapers and soft furnishings. With an unique aesthetic that blends ancient with modern and east with west, she has developed her own creation and production process based around the use of traditional Indian painting techniques whilst the plants and animals that decorate her vibrantly patterned fabrics, wallpapers and soft furnishings are inspired by nature.

With her first collection of fabrics and papers ready to launch, she wanted to be sure of hitting all the right notes to get it right first time with the senior trade buyers, retailers and interior designers that she will meet at a series of specialist trade shows in London, Paris and New York.

Combining Shweta’s input in terms of her long-term vision, aspirations, motivations and limitations, with my own research into the market environment for luxury and boutique homewares, I developed a suite of USPs for Shweta that pick out all of the most authentic and most unique features of her aesthetic and brand proposition. These will form the basic framework for all of her future communications, from face-to-face pitching to social media content creation. Meanwhile, on a very practical, granular level, I provided her with a targeted action plan to make the most of every show that she attends, focusing on practical actions to take before, during and after each show to maximise the potential benefits to her business and her brand. From specific updates to her website content and structure; to hints and tips for running the best possible trade stand and action points for the implementation of a new CRM system to manage leads, this complete tactical action plan will help Shweta to make the best and most focused use of the time she spends on marketing and business development in the months to come.
